About the Event

Saturday January 30th, we return to Sardinia, the 2nd largest island in the Mediterranean Sea and the 3rd largest region in Italy. Sardinians have an incredible quality life expectancy (and was the first Blue Zone named in the world), attributed to many factors, one of which is what they eat and the wine they drink. We will be tasting a different line of wines than we tasted last May, including some new grapes we have not had yet in our travels. Join us for a fun, informative evening, learn about the fabulous Argiolas 3rd generation family winery, the typical Sardinian foods, and the Sardinians Blue Zone of health!

Argiolas is the foremost wine estate on the island of Sardinia producing archetypal wines from native varietals. The winery was founded in 1938 by Antonio Argiolas and was the first on the island to pursue quality over quantity. Today, the Argiolas family is recognized as Sardinia’s leading producer of wine. The vineyards of Argiolas are located in Sardiana in the Trexenta hills just north of the capital of Cagliari. Argiolas farms 600 acres of native Sardinian grapes including Nuragus, Monica, and Cannonau, the star of the Blue Zone wines. The introduction of the "Senes" Cannonau di Sardegna DOC Riserva, which we have on our menu, serves the Argiolas family as a homage to Antonio, whose 102 years were largely dedicated to cultivating the indigenous varietals of his island.

Come join us as we explore this very unique island of Italy and enjoy the evening along with our Guest Speaker, Marcello Palazzi, Portfolio Specialist, Winebow Imports, who we welcome again to our dinners, and is originally from the Naples area of Italy. As always with our speakers, we really learn a lot during our virtual "trips" and have a lot of fun.

Here's our menu of typical Sardinian paired courses paired with the special Argiolas wines:
